About Us

John Kesler lectures, trains, consults, and coaches individuals and groups regarding Flourishing Leadership and Mature Flourishing Leadership in community, professional, business, educational, and broader societal settings. 

John is designated as the “flourishing practice facilitator” of the global Flourishing Network sponsored by the Harvard University Human Flourishing Program (“Flourishing Network”), and facilitates an IPP-based community of practice for several of the leaders of the Flourishing Network. He is a member of the Oxford/Harvard Leadership for Flourishing working group of the Flourishing Network, and chair of the Civic Engagement and Leadership task force of the Flourishing Network’s Spirituality and Flourishing interest group. YOUnify (see younify.org), the NGO John co-founded and which he chairs, is currently active in forty American states and seven countries. YOUnify is grounded in IPP principles and provides the capacities and skills of Mature Flourishing Leadership in working with groups and communities of all sorts, across all sectors, locally to globally to make progress on the pressing issues of our time in support of interconnected individual, collective, and ecosystemic flourishing.  He is a fellow of the Institute for Strategic Clarity.

All of the Flourishing Leadership-related work, writing, and scholarship that John does is grounded in evidence-based principles of flourishing and the related principles of integral polarity practice (IPP), which John developed, and which he has shared for over twenty years. IPP is a spiritually grounded character and virtue practice in a developmental framework that is designed to foster strong and virtuous character, personal integration, growth, and flourishing in ways that support interrelated individual, collective, and ecosystemic flourishing. He leads the IPP Institute (theippinstitute.com), his primary vehicle for sharing IPP as a personal practice. IPP practices emphasize developing over time strong and virtuous character and developmentally mature capacities, including consonant moral maturity and leadership skills. John takes the position that deep spiritual centering and strong and virtuous character are foundational to optimal attainment of stable, morally mature and effective flourishing capacities. As far as John is aware, IPP is the only inner practice that is designed to work with and integrate primary dimensions of every identified stage of human development in support of evidence-based flourishing and Flourishing Leadership. 

John is the author of Integral Polarity Practice in Support of Leadership for Flourishing and Living into Sacred Beauty: the Origins and Emergence of Integral Polarity Practice, both available through Amazon. 

He is certified by STAGES International as a professional scorer and debriefer of stages of human development, which supports John’s training and coaching others in the context of IPP practice and Mature Flourishing Leadership and working in the field of Flourishing Leadership.

John is a practicing attorney, having graduated from Columbia University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree as an International Fellow of the Graduate School of Columbia University. He has practiced law continually for over fifty years and has maintained the highest AV rating through the peer review rating system of Martindale Hubbell continually for over twenty-five years.
